Rick, good thing we still have a lot of time. I think the exhibit space does work allready better. I don't like the column grid however, and would suggest to move the common space above west by half a bay to eliminate the double columns (possibly even the doubled-up columns). The bathrooms on th eperimeter are an interesting idea: you clearly establish a clean zone along Boylson Street. It now calls for a clear registration in the front of the garden. The heavier this zone inside, the heavier its' counterpart in the garden should be. The other opportunity/challenge is adding a certain amount of transparency and light thru this thick zone into the exhinit space. I see some unconventional window, ceiling, lightselve, wall materials et cetera. At the end of your class room corridor you now need an egress door (maybe it leads to a stair underneath the circulation spine above that leads down to the lowest floor. The walls at the end of the class rooms are trnslucent, right? That would neatly tie into your original shell-light idea. The third class room to the west is not satisfactory. I would try to reduce th ehallway to 44", sceeze move #5, 6 & 7 over, and violate the setback for a corner window.

Werner.. there is lots of time, right? I can't believe I am actually reworking things late... On that note, it is too late in the semester to alter the structure bay spacing. The carry through to the second floor is too large of a move to make. The second floor student rooms and the rythym established in elevation would need to be remodeled... which I do not have sufficient time to complete. There is a lot of work to get finished and ready for posting by Friday. If I had 10 to 12 hours a day to work on this, that would be a different story and I would gladly look at it. But the learning point is still there and I understand your comment. I rather like the columns interrupting the space below. It exposes the heavy timber/glulam structure in other spaces in the building. I can live with the minor inconveniences and slightly awkward areas it creates.

Working through the heavy zone along Boylston as I post this... thanks for the comments here, I will address them.

I am shifting the third studio, I was not comfortable with it myself. Simply posted where I was at before bed last night. The studio walls are still translucent allowing light to filter through each space.

Will post again tonight before I sleep. I must be finished with the floor plan tonight in order to budget my time and work load. Also need to produce the second floor and lower level to a similar degree of detail for continuity in studio finals.
